Q: My event is held in China and the participant provided details in Chinese. It looks fine in the backend, but when I exported the reports, I see many gibberish characters. How should I go about it?
A: GEVME system report is in the format of .csv. CSV files do not support Unicode/UTF-8 characters, which include:
- Chinese characters
- any non-Latin scripts (Hebrew, Cyrillic, Japanese, etc.)
- symbols
- barcodes
In order to view the content correctly, please refer to this detailed guide on how to view special characters in .csv file.
You may consider exporting the report in a PDF file instead. Certainly, there is an editing limitation in PDF format.
The PDF report is limited to a max of 15 columns, the first 15 of the fields selected from the Report settings; and it is fixed at 12 rows on a page.
