As a SaaS platform, Gevme operates predominantly online, we relies on the user's device to render the font.

For example: Arial

  • Arial, designed by Monotype in 1982, is a widely used typeface often included as a default font in many operating systems and software applications.

  • As a SaaS platform, Gevme operates predominantly online. In its web applications, Arial can be specified using CSS, relying on the user's device to render the font. Since Arial is commonly available on most devices, Gevme's web application references the Arial font already licensed on the user's machine.

  • If Arial is unavailable on a user’s system, web browsers automatically substitute it with similar fonts like Helvetica or other sans-serif fonts. This fallback mechanism ensures the visual integrity of the content is maintained without requiring additional licensing.

  • Gevme does not need to redistribute Arial font files; instead, it references the font present on the user’s system. Redistributing font files typically requires a license, but merely referencing an already licensed font does not.

Font licensing is required for embedding a font within software. When referencing a font, we instruct the browser to use a font from the system to render the content.
