At Gevme, protecting your data and providing a secure event management experience is our highest priority. To strengthen platform security, we are updating our file upload policy to allow only secure, modern file formats. This change blocks potential threats, such as macro-based vulnerabilities and hidden scripts in legacy files, from executing unauthorised actions.

Effective 3rd March 2026, only selected secure file types will be accepted on the platform. This guide explains the update, its benefits, and how to adjust your workflows.

What is changed

The new file upload system validates files at the point of upload, accepting only formats free of embedded executable macros or other security risks. Any file outside the approved list will be automatically rejected, preventing potentially harmful files from entering the platform.

Legacy formats such as .doc, .xls, and macro-enabled variants are no longer accepted due to their vulnerability to malware.

Action Required

A. Update Registration Form Instructions

Review your event registration forms and revise instructions that request unsupported file types. Replace them with accepted formats:

• .docx
• .xlsx
• .pdf

B. Convert Existing Unsupported Files

If you or your participants have files in unsupported formats, convert them before uploading: 

1. Open the file in Microsoft Word or Excel.
2. Select File → Save As.
3. Choose one of the secure formats:
   • Word: .docx
     ◦ Excel: .xlsx
     ◦ PDF: .pdf
4. Save and upload the converted file.
